Construction, Exhibition and Technical Operations Tender released
20 June 2008
Today the Australian Government released a Construction, Exhibition and Technical Operations Request for Tender (RFT), the largest of the five RFTs relating to the second phase of Australia’s planning for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) seeks to engage a high quality service provider to work with DFAT to refine and execute the design of the Australian pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010, expected to be the biggest world exposition in history.
The pavilion will showcase contemporary Australia through cutting-edge exhibitions and will provide an impressive platform for the business and cultural programs. From 1 May to 31 October 2010, seven million people (up to 40,000 every day) are expected to visit the Australian pavilion.
In addition to expo visitors, Australia’s pavilion will reach a much broader audience in both China and Australian through a comprehensive and innovative communications program.
The architectural design and physical structure of the Australian pavilion was developed in Phase 1 of the project. The successful tenderer will have significant scope for creative input to develop the exhibition content in line with the pavilion’s thematic messages.
DFAT encourages bids from service providers with extensive experience in construction, exhibition design and fabrication, technical operations and maintenance, particularly in the Chinese market.
The closing time for lodgement of submissions is 2 pm AEST on Friday 8 August 2008, and DFAT expects the contract with the successful tenderer will be signed by mid-September 2008.
An industry briefing outlining DFAT’s requirements for the RFT will be held on Monday 30 June 2008 at 10am at the RG Casey Building (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade), John McEwen Crescent in Barton, ACT.
Tenderers who plan to attend the briefing should notify DFAT by 4 pm on Friday 27 June 2008 by contacting Alexandra Seal via email at: expo2010shanghai@dfat.gov.au
The RFT documentation is available from the procurement page of the DFAT website. The opportunity is being advertised nationally and on the AusTender website.
